The relaunch of Braeburn Care benefits from a combination of strong continuity and relatively new perspectives of the senior leadership members. Father and Daughter team, Martyn and Harriet Smith have successfully worked together for years, have highly complementary skills, and also co-own Sammons Recruitment Group. With 12+ years of experience in the homecare industry, Katy Salliss has amassed a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Her prior positions throughout her career in the sector, have provided her with valuable insights into best practices, regulatory compliance, and the intricacies of delivering high-quality care to vulnerable individuals. Together with the support of Jonathan King and Lauren Cutts, our team are passionate, experienced, and prepared to make a real difference.
Leadership Biographies
Harriet Smith – Chief Executive Officer
Harriet built her career in the domiciliary healthcare industry working her way up to launching and managing several organisations including start-ups, SME’s, franchises and entities within the NHS, until eventually operating the original multi-site Braeburn Care business, from 2014-2020. Through diversifying her experience from the Sammons Recruitment Group and successfully joining Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses UK alumnus, Harriet brings expertise in operational leadership, strategic development, hiring, branding and marketing, IT and process implementation and automation, while ensuring strong awareness of the competitive landscape, business opportunities and industry developments. Harriet is delighted to now have the capacity to relaunch Braeburn Care, alongside Sammons.
Martyn Smith – Chairman
Martyn has extensive experience of financial management generally and acquisitions specifically, having worked as Finance Director/CFO for three large public companies (Inchcape plc, John Menzies plc and Avis Budget Group Inc) – all being in business services, hence highly cyclical. He has both personally managed large and small acquisitions, with a particular emphasis on post-deal integration. He has strong expertise in funding and working capital management in particular, and is a FCCA and has a Masters in Finance from London Business School.
Katy Salliss – Registered Care Manager
With extensive experience in the homecare industry, Katy has been responsible for managing a number of businesses, offering both domiciliary and live-in care services. With exceptional qualifications and proven leadership skills, Katy possesses exemplary character traits, including integrity, reliability, and a strong commitment to ethical standards. Having previously been the first Registered Care Manager of the original Braeburn Care business, Katy’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of care aligns seamlessly with the vision and values of our organisation.
Jonathan King – Group Financial Controller
Jonathan brings with him strong commercial business experience to help reorganise and streamline Braeburn Care’s finance function. His CIMA accreditation and on-going studies help support and lead the Finance function with his role particularly focused on controls, process improvement, working capital management, budgeting & forecasting, invoicing & payroll, while providing commercial support to our customer-facing teams.
Lauren Cutts – Group HR Business Partner
Lauren brings experience from a variety of sectors including Aerospace, Defence and Recruitment. She has completed her Masters in Human Resource Management and is currently working towards gaining her Chartership membership of the CIPD. She brings with her a breadth of experience across many people disciplines to form and re-build our HR function.
