At Braeburn Care, we are passionate about supporting not only our customers and their families but also the wider community. That’s why we’re so proud of our CEO, Harriet Smith, who is stepping up for Aspens – a charity dedicated to supporting children, young people, and adults on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities – taking on an incredible challenge this October in her role as a Trustee.
Harriet, alongside her fellow trustees and senior leaders from Aspens, will be lacing up their walking boots and taking on the Seven Sisters coastal walk. This stunning – yet demanding – trek along the Sussex coast isn’t just about the exercise (though there will be plenty of that!). It’s about raising vital funds to help Aspens continue its life-changing work.
Why This Challenge Matters
Aspens is more than just a charity. It’s a lifeline for so many families across Kent and East Sussex. From therapeutic workshops and personalised one-to-one support, to practical training and community-based activities, Aspens gives individuals the tools they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
The walk is about more than covering miles – it’s about showing solidarity with those who face daily challenges. Every step Harriet and the Aspens team take will represent the resilience, courage, and determination of the people this charity supports.
And with a fundraising target of £3,500, every donation will directly contribute to keeping these vital services going.

The Seven Sisters Coastal Walk
For anyone who hasn’t visited before, the Seven Sisters cliffs are breathtaking – seven undulating chalk peaks rising and falling along the East Sussex coastline. While the views are spectacular, the terrain is no easy stroll. The climbs are steep, the weather can be unpredictable, and it demands stamina, teamwork, and determination.
For Harriet and the other walkers, that challenge is symbolic. Just as the Seven Sisters require grit to climb, so too does navigating life with autism or a learning disability. The peaks and valleys of the walk mirror the ups and downs faced by individuals and families every single day.
Walking side by side highlights something important: camaraderie, teamwork, and shared purpose.
Why Harriet is Stepping Up for Aspens
Harriet has always been committed to making a difference through her role as CEO and as a Trustee of Aspens. For her, this challenge represents an opportunity to put her values into action.
“Being part of Aspens is a privilege. The work they do changes lives, giving people the tools and support they need to live with confidence, dignity, and independence. Taking on this walk and stepping up for Aspens is one small way I can show my commitment – but more importantly, it’s a chance to raise funds so that Aspens can continue making a positive impact in our communities.”

At Braeburn Care, we know that good care is about more than the services we deliver day to day. It’s about being part of the communities we serve, contributing to causes that matter, and standing alongside those who need a helping hand.
Harriet’s involvement with Aspens reflects the values that underpin everything we do at Braeburn Care: compassion, commitment, and community.
The Seven Sisters walk is just one example of how, by working together, we can achieve something bigger than ourselves.
