Care Professionals Making a Difference: Supporting the Brighton Marathon for Stroke Awareness

Care Professionals Making a Difference

Care professionals making a difference is something we see every day at Braeburn Care – not just within the homes we support, but out in the wider community too.

This weekend, one of our dedicated care professionals, Jess, will be taking on the Brighton Marathon 2026, running in support of the Stroke Association – a charity that provides vital support to those affected by stroke.

Having already raised over £500, this is an incredible achievement and a reflection of both her commitment and the support around her.

Going Beyond the Role

At Braeburn Care, we often talk about the difference our team make. But that difference doesn’t stop at care delivery. It’s reflected in the values our team bring into everything they do – compassion, dedication, and a genuine desire to support others.

Taking on a marathon is no small challenge. It requires months of preparation, resilience, and determination. Balancing this alongside a demanding role in care is something that deserves real recognition. This is what care professionals making a difference looks like in action.

Why This Cause Matters

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in the UK, affecting thousands of individuals and families every year. For many, the impact is life-changing – requiring ongoing support, rehabilitation, and care.

The Stroke Association plays a critical role in:

  • Supporting stroke survivors and their families
  • Providing rehabilitation and recovery services
  • Raising awareness and funding vital research

For those working in care, the realities of stroke are often seen first-hand. Supporting this cause is not just meaningful – it’s deeply connected to the work we do every day.

The Strength Behind the Challenge

Running the Brighton Marathon is as much a mental challenge as it is physical. Early mornings. Long training runs. Pushing through fatigue. All while continuing to show up for others. That level of commitment speaks volumes about the individual behind it – and the values that underpin great care.

A Team That Supports Each Other

One of the things we’re most proud of at Braeburn Care is the strength of our team. Moments like this bring everyone together. From colleagues offering encouragement, to friends and family supporting the fundraising efforts — it reflects the sense of community that sits at the heart of what we do. It’s not just about one person running a marathon. It’s about a collective effort behind them.

More Than Just a Race

This isn’t just about crossing a finish line.

It’s about:

  • Raising awareness
  • Supporting a meaningful cause
  • Giving back to the community

Every mile run represents something bigger. And every pound raised contributes to making a difference.

Wishing You the Very Best Jess

Jess, from all of us at Braeburn Care, we want to wish you the very best of luck this weekend. We know the dedication and effort that has gone into preparing for this moment, and we’ll all be cheering you on. An incredible achievement already – and one we’re proud to support.

A Reflection of Our Values

Stories like this are a reminder of what sits behind the care we deliver. Compassion. Commitment. A genuine desire to make a difference. These are the qualities that define care professionals making a difference — both within the homes we support and beyond.

If you’d like to support this incredible effort or learn more about the work of the Stroke Association, please do take a moment to get involved.
